What is a Ski-In/Ski-Out Rental?

So, you’re researching the best places to stay in Breckenridge and have come across a variety of vacation rentals. It can be hard to choose the best vacation rental for you when there are so many options! Most amenities are easy enough to understand; mountain view rentals, for example, mean exactly that—they’re rentals with a mountain view. However, if you haven’t been to Breckenridge before, you might not be familiar with ski-in/ski-out rentals. So, what is a ski-in/ski-out rental, you ask?

Well, it’s just as simple, really! Our Breckenridge Ski-in/ski-out rentals are accommodations directly on the ski mountain. You can ski right onto the hill instead of driving there. Sounds pretty convenient, right? It is! There are many benefits to staying in a ski-in/ski-out rental. We’ll explore them now!

Why Should I Stay in A Ski-in/Ski-Out Rental?

The biggest reason to stay in a Breckenridge ski-in/ski-out rental is the convenience factor! Staying in one of these cozy mountainside units is the closest to the ski slopes you can get.

You’ll save time and stress while staying in a ski-in/ski-out rental. Just think—you don’t have to get everyone loaded into the car or circle around a parking lot trying to find a spot. You can start skiing at your own pace, and since you’re so close, you can be one of the first ones down the mountain! There’s nothing better than fresh, powdery tracks.

This is a great option if you’re traveling with kids, too. You’ll have easy access to your rental accommodation if anything urgent comes up! Plus, you can have your partner watch them while you sneak in a run or two.

Why Breckenridge is Perfect for a Ski-In/Ski-Out Rental

How to Choose the Right Ski-In/Ski-Out Rental

Choosing a ski-in/ski-out rental in Breckenridge is similar to selecting any vacation rental! You have to keep several factors in mind when deciding where to stay. Are you looking for a rental big enough to fit the whole family, a large friend group, or a cozy condo for two?

Some of our ski-in/ski-out rentals can accommodate groups of up to eighteen people! If you’re heading out on a large group stay, you could stay in the magnificent new Snowy Owl Retreat, right next to the gondola! It offers unmatched ambiance, elegance, and mountainside charm.

A Homeowner’s Guide to Managing Rentals in Breckenridge

It’s no secret that Breckenridge, CO, is one of the nation’s top destinations for skiers and vacationers. As a result, it has also become a desirable location for real estate investors.

When you own property in Breckenridge, there are two benefits. First, you can rest assured you always have a place to stay when you visit here. Second, you can rent your vacation home out when you’re away, creating the opportunity for passive income.

If you’re interested in taking this next step, learning as much as possible about managing rentals in Breckenridge is important. Today, we’re sharing some of the most important parts of this process to help you get started.

Understand the Rules

Before renting out your Breckenridge property, there are a few administrative aspects to consider.

In February 2023, Summit County legislators released new laws and regulations affecting Breckenridge’s short-term rental market. These guidelines put parameters around the market with protocols that affect the following:

  • Short-term rental license caps
  • Booking limits
  • Neighborhood-specific occupancy limits

Designed primarily for remote property owners, the updates include protections for full-time Summit County residents.

One of the most important terms involves requisite licensure. If you want to rent your Breckenridge house for fewer than 30 days, you’ll need a short-term rental license. If your application isn’t approved and/or you don’t pay regulatory fees and taxes, you will need to opt for a long-term rental model.

Invest in Home Security

Once you have the required licensure, it’s time to consider how you’ll secure your vacation home.

Home security is a vacation rental must for the safety of your guests and your property. This becomes especially important when your property is vacant between rentals.

Some options to consider include exterior motion detectors, cameras, and burglar alarms. Today, you can purchase home security systems that stay connected to your phone even when you’re hundreds of miles away. You’ll receive immediate alerts if there’s any suspicious activity, allowing you to call the authorities immediately.

In addition to exterior components, you may also consider securing the interior of your property. If you decide to install security cameras inside your home, make sure your guests are aware of their presence. In addition, the cameras should be turned off when the home is occupied to ensure their privacy.

Keep Local Contractors On Call

Maintenance and upkeep are crucial to keep your vacation rental booked. Breckenridge offers visitors plenty of places to stay, and the quality of your property will go a long way toward keeping it competitive.

In addition to scheduling preventative and regular maintenance, you’ll also need to know who to call if a guest contacts you about an emergency maintenance issue, such as a leak or power failure.

Finally, don’t forget about hiring a cleaning crew, even if you’re able to clean your vacation rental yourself between bookings. Professional cleaners will thoroughly clean and sanitize your property before guests arrive.

Optimize Guest Communication

The key to keeping short-term renters happy is to strike a balance between giving them space and staying communicative. For instance, many renters won’t mind if you aren’t present when they check-in. However, they’ll still need to know how to get in touch with you if they have any questions, issues, or concerns.

Good guest communication starts with your listing. Whether you use a popular listing website or build your own, make sure the listing thoroughly and accurately describes the property and pricing. In addition, remember to mention key details such as whether the property has on-site laundry, the number of available beds (and their sizes), and additional fees guests can expect to pay.

You should also be prepared to keep an open line of communication before, during, and after your guests’ reservations. Whether they need to know the WiFi password or discuss their final bill, a quick and patient response will help to secure good reviews and future bookings.

Offer Amenities

There is plenty to do in Breckenridge, and those attractions fuel the tourism industry in Summit County. If all you provide is a clean, comfortable, and safe place to stay, you’ve done your job as a vacation rental owner. Yet, what if you want to go above and beyond?

Offering amenities can enrich your renters’ experiences in your home. This can be as simple as providing complimentary beverages and snacks. Or, you can take a more elaborate approach and offer on-site perks such as hot tubs, Bluetooth-enabled speakers, smart televisions, and even discount codes for local eateries.

As mentioned, Breckenridge has a competitive vacation rental market. Great amenities are one way to make sure your home stays at the top of the local list.

A Guide to the Best Rentals in Breckenridge

Located at an elevation of 9,600 feet, Breckenridge is a renowned destination for adventurous travelers looking for fun and excitement. From the snowy slopes of the winter season to the colorful forests of the fall, Breckenridge offers an array of outdoor activities that will appeal to varying vacation styles.

But to fully enjoy the town’s natural beauty, you need to book great accommodation. And, lucky for you, there are several types of rentals in Breckenridge, from cozy cabins and luxury homes to spacious condos and inviting townhouses.

Each accommodation is tailored to cater to its guests’ varying preferences and budgets. With such a wide variety, though, we know that selecting the right rental can be somewhat overwhelming and time-consuming.

Follow along as we dive into the ins and outs of Breckenridge rentals to help you discover which is perfectly suited for your stay. Whether you’re a solo traveler or a big family, you’re sure to find something on this list that can serve as a starting point for your next trip.

Breckenridge Rental Homes vs. Resorts

When planning your upcoming trip to Breckenridge, one of the biggest decisions is whether to stay in a rental home or a resort. Both options have their advantages, sure. But after careful consideration, we believe that a rental home is the best choice for adventurers seeking an authentic, one-of-a-kind Breckenridge experience.

While resorts may offer amenities like on-site dining and housekeeping, rental homes provide a more personal and flexible experience. With a rental home, you have the freedom to:

  • Cook your meals
  • Entertain friends
  • Spend quality time with family

Additionally, rental homes offer more space and privacy than shared resort rooms, allowing you to truly relax in the mountains.

Another benefit of rental homes is the opportunity to stay in unique and historic properties that embody the character of Breckenridge. From cozy cabins to spacious homes, there’s no shortage of options that capture the charm of this mountain town, especially at Alpine Edge.

And with many rental homes located a short walk (or ski) from the slopes, you’ll have quick and easy access to all the outdoor activities Breckenridge offers.

The bottom line? While resorts may seem more convenient, rental homes provide a more personal and authentic experience perfect for adventure-seekers. So when planning your next trip to Breckenridge, consider booking a rental home. It’s a great way to ensure unforgettable memories in the heart of the Rockies.

Types of Rentals in Breckenridge

Breckenridge is popular with adventure seekers and families alike. The city and surrounding area offer vast expanses of pristine wilderness to explore, hiking trails, and world-class skiing. Basically, there are plenty of things to do here.

This means that, when planning your trip to Breckenridge, it’s essential to consider what type of rental you want to stay in. From duplexes to villas, each type of rental comes with its pros and cons and amenities. Choosing the right one will ultimately depend on the activities you’re interested in participating in, your budget, and group size.

Here’s a breakdown of the different types of vacation rentals you’ll find in Breckenridge.

Duplex

A duplex is usually ideal if you’re traveling with a small group or family and want a cozy, feel-like-home atmosphere. While it’s not 100% private like a home or villa, you can enjoy some cost-saving advantages.

Consider the fact that duplexes, due to their compact nature, share walls with other units. However, they are also typically located closer to city comforts, like shopping malls and restaurants.

Ultimately, duplex rentals offer the benefits of staying in a private home without the expense. If you’re not planning on spending much time in your rental, a duplex is a great option.

Home

A standalone home rental is more luxurious and comfortable for families and larger groups. With more space and privacy, it’s an ideal choice if you have children or want to host gatherings with friends.

Typically, a standalone home offers everything you need to feel at home in the mountains, such as a deck with mountain views and full-size kitchens for meal prep.

Townhome

A townhome rental is a perfect option for families or groups who want the luxury and amenities of a standalone home while being more budget-conscious and located in a convenient area.

With attached or neighboring units, townhomes allow for excellent socializing opportunities (which is great if you want to rent two townhomes to cater to two larger families so you can stay in the same area without sharing the same space). Townhomes tend to be less expensive than larger homes and villas, too.

Condo

The condo rental option is ideal for smaller groups or couples. Condos offer the convenience of a hotel room but the comfort of a small apartment. Expect cost-saving amenities like a basic kitchen and shared spaces.

Villa

If you’re looking for the ultimate in luxury, a villa rental may be right up your alley. Most Alpine Edge villas offer amenities like private hot tubs, home theaters, ski-in/ski-out locations, and private chef services. These large homes are the best choice for those who want luxury and privacy while exploring Breckenridge’s activities and local terrain.

The Best Rentals in Breckenridge

Do you know what kind of vacation rental you’re looking for now? If so, it’s time to explore some specific rental options.

While we ultimately suggest reading reviews of each property and looking more in-depth at photos, amenities, and cost (and searching through all our properties), here are a few of the best rentals in Breckenridge to give you an idea of what to expect.

Mountain Thunder is a townhome in one of Breckenridge’s most sought-after locations. It’s only a short distance from the town and the gondola, and there’s a complimentary shuttle service available, so exploring all Breckenridge has to offer won’t be difficult for your group.

The Mountain-Industrial Gateway is a frequently-booked condo in Breckenridge, ideal for groups of two to four. This property showcases top-quality craftsmanship, with features like locally sourced barn wood and metal accents. It’s equipped with in-floor heating and a modern fireplace for comfort during the winter months.

Its prime location offers easy access to both the town and ski slopes via a nearby free shuttle service. A distillery, noted for being the world’s highest, is conveniently located next door.

The kitchen comes fitted with new appliances such as a pressure cooker, crock pot, waffle maker, and a Nespresso coffee maker. The condo also offers impressive views of the surrounding landscape.

Nestled amidst the peaks of Breckenridge, Alpine Grandeur is a lavish custom home ideal for visitors looking for something extremely spacious and upscale. How to Choose the Best Vacation Rentals

As you can see, you’ve got tons of options for rentals in Breckenridge (click here to explore them all). When it comes to picking the best rental, there are a few key factors to consider, such as:

  • Group size
  • Price
  • Amenities
  • Proximity to the resorts and slopes

If you’re traveling with a large group, you’ll want to look for rentals that can accommodate all of you comfortably. Consider factors such as the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, and common areas when deciding. Smaller groups, on the other hand, may benefit from a cozier, more intimate rental.

Next, it’s important to consider the rental price. While some may have a seemingly high upfront cost, it’s worth considering all the amenities included.

For example, some rentals offer free shuttle services to the resort, hot tubs, and even fireplaces. While the price may seem higher than renting a regular Airbnb or hotel room, these added perks can save you money in the long run and make your stay much more enjoyable.

Speaking of amenities, it’s important to consider what facilities you want during your stay. Maybe you want a rental with a full kitchen, so you can cook your meals and save money on eating out. Some rentals even have access to a swimming pool, gym, or spa.

Finally, don’t forget to consider location. Do you want to be right at the foot of the mountain, or would you prefer a rental with a bit more privacy? If you’re looking for easy access to the slopes, you’ll want to check out rentals in the Peak 8 area. If you’re looking for seclusion and mountain views, Peak 7 or even further out may be more your speed.

The Complete Guide to Choosing a Vacation Rental in Breckenridge, CO

Nestled on the southern end of the Tenmile Range, Breckenridge offers just about every type of outdoor recreation in every season. Tons of snow make it an ideal location for winter skiing, while hikers love to come to tackle the popular fourteener Quandary Peak.

Whatever your plans, choosing a vacation rental to provide a good home base is the first step to a great stay. The town and surrounding Summit County offer lots of options that can get you close to the action or put you closer to nature.

The right place for you depends a bit on what you plan to do while you’re here and the kind of trip you want to have. Let’s look at the key things you need to keep in mind when booking your stay.

Choose Your Location

The town sits in a valley, so it’s an uphill climb as you go east and west from the center strip along Main Street. If you’re planning to walk into town a lot, know that what looks like a short walk could involve a climb every time you head home.

Given the many activities in Breckenridge, you might make your rental choice based on your trip plan. In the winter, you might want a place near a ski lift to cut down on the time it takes to hit the slope. Properties listed as ski-in/ski-out mean you can ski right up to your door, although you’ll still want lift access to get up the mountain.

In the summer, the best location might be north of town, so you’re close to the golf course or near the river if you plan to do some fishing. The paved rec path for walkers, runners, and road bikers runs through the center of town and north to Frisco with easy access from most locations. Mountain bike and hiking paths run all over the mountains as well.

If you’re bringing your dog with you, you might consider looking at locations on the east side of town, which put you near Carter Park and the spacious dog park there.

If you want to be right in town, you’ll find a few options along Main Street with far more along South Park/Highway 9 that loops around the west side of town. All put you close to the action, food, and shopping to be found up and down Main Street.

Most locations will be near a stop for the free bus, an important consideration if you plan to shuttle up and not have a vehicle while you’re visiting.

Confirm the Amenities

Consider the kind of vacation you want so you can ensure the rental has everything you’ll need during your stay. The vacation rental amenities offered can make your stay far more convenient and relaxing.

For a short stay, you might not care too much about whether there’s an in-unit washer and dryer. But for a longer stay, that might matter. Having access at all is important as there’s only one laundromat in town.

Having a place to store all your ski or bike gear is also important since it gets messy and takes up space. You don’t want to be keeping it in your living room the entire trip!

If you plan to eat out most of the time, you might not need much of a kitchen for your stay. But if you do and have plans to cook certain things, double-check that it’s equipped with what you need. That might mean a handy grill for burgers or plenty of cookie sheets if you like to bake.

You’ll find hot tubs aplenty across town since it’s a great way to ease aching muscles after a day on the slopes. A few complexes offer access to a pool as well, a great option in the summer when the sun comes out.

If you plan to bring your dog, that will limit your rental options as many of the townhouse and condo complexes only allow pets for unit owners. You’ll have better luck with a house, although don’t expect to find a fenced yard for Fido.

Don’t forget to ask about parking. Most locations offer space for one vehicle, which might be in a lot or could be in a parking garage under the building. Townhouses and houses are more likely to have a garage and space for more cars.

Consider the Type of Property

Breck offers a lot of options in property types, making it easy for you to find what you need for the size of your group and planned activities.

When comparing vacation rental costs, you might find a large house to be a better option for a large group. They tend to be what you find up the peaks, north toward the golf course and south toward Blue River. You’ll also find more luxury options since there’s more space to build out of town.

Condos and townhouses are plenty closer to town, particularly on the southern end and along the west edge. You’ll find some luxury options here, but most are practical choices set up to fit as many people as possible. They’re a great choice if location is more important than luxury, and you can find many right along a ski run.

Resorts, lodges, and hotels offer more traditional options, and several have their own ski lifts right outside the door. They tend to have restaurants on the property along with other amenities you expect at a hotel.

Check the Property Management

Resorts, lodges, and hotels will have professional management with front desks where you check-in. With other rentals, you might deal with the owner, or you could deal with a property management company.

With the latter, it can be easier to reach someone to ask questions or if there’s a problem. These companies are right in town, so they can visit ahead of time to ensure everything is set up for you. They also tend to manage a lot of properties and can get you into the right place for your family if your first choice is already booked.

Why a Long Term Rentals in Breckenridge, Colorado Is Better Than a Short One

Did you know that the average house now costs over $350,000 in the United States? As you might guess, this number will be higher in states where people gravitate, such as Colorado.

The good news is that you don’t have to buy a home to enjoy everything Colorado has to offer. Long-term rentals in Breckenridge is a great way to enjoy the nature and unique atmosphere of the state. However, not everybody understands why long-term rentals are better than short-term rentals.

Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the benefits of long-term rentals in Breckenridge, CO.

You Can Get Settled in

It can be highly inconvenient to pick up and travel elsewhere shortly after you arrive at your vacation rental. This is especially true if you have young children.

When you’re renting long-term, you can take your time to settle in and find your bearings before you start exploring. This also gives you the opportunity to do things like setting up a grocery delivery service so that you don’t have to worry about lugging food back from the store every time you need something.

You Can Live Like a Local

One of the best things about renting is that it gives you the opportunity to live like a local.

When you’re only in town for a short period of time, it can be difficult to really get a feel for what life is like in that area. When you’re renting long term, however, you have the opportunity to really get to know the area and the people who live there. This can be a great way to make new friends and learn about the area’s history and culture.

You Can Save Money

Renting long-term is also a great way to save money. Not only will you get a discounted rate on your rental, but you’ll also be able to take advantage of things like bulk discounts at local stores. This can add up to big savings over the course of your stay.

It’s also worth considering that many property owners will charge you less per month if you choose to stay for an extended period of time. So, be sure that you keep this in mind when making your decision.

You Can Furnish Your Rental

If you’re planning on staying in your rental for a while, you may want to consider furnishing it. This can be a great way to make your rental feel like home.

More often than not, vacation properties that are already furnished may feel less like home than you would like them to. When you’re furnishing your rental, you can choose items that fit your personal style and make the space feel like it’s truly yours.

You Can Pet-Proof Your Rental

If you’re traveling with pets, long-term rentals are a great option. You’ll have the opportunity to pet-proof your rental before your pets arrive.

This can be a great way to ensure that your pets are safe and comfortable while you’re away. It’s also worth noting that many vacation rental properties have strict rules about pets, so be sure to check with the owner before you bring your furry friend along.

You Could Set Up a Home Office

Let’s assume that you wish to stay in your vacation rental for months at a time. However, you are not completely free from your work obligations during this period.

If you set up a home office in your rental, you can take advantage of the beautiful scenery and peace and quiet that come with living in a vacation rental. This can be a great way to get work done while still being able to enjoy your time away from home.

It Will Actually Feel Like a Vacation

When you’re only in town for a short period of time, it can be difficult to truly relax and feel like you’re on vacation.

You may constantly be worrying about packing up and leaving too soon, for example. When you’re renting long-term, however, you can relax and enjoy your time away from home. You can rest assured that you have a place to stay for as long as you need it.

You Can Explore the Area More

If you’re only in town for a short period of time, you may feel like you need to spend most of your time in your vacation rental. However, when you’re renting long-term, you can take your time exploring the area. It would be a shame to visit such a beautiful area and not take in everything it has to offer.

You Still Have Flexibility

Many people assume that a long-term rental means you are locked into this location for at least 6 to 12 months. This isn’t always the case, though.

In fact, there are many long-term rentals that offer flexible terms. Consider this when deciding whether or not an extended stay at Breckenridge rental is right for you and your family.

You Should Not Overlook the Potential of Long-Term Rentals in Breckenridge, CO

Although the choice might seem difficult at first, choosing long-term rentals in Breckenridge, CO is a great way to get the most out of your vacation to Colorado. As long as you follow the above guide, you’ll be able to make the decision that is best for you.

How to Find the Best Breckenridge Condos for Rent

How to Find the Best Breckenridge Condos for Rent

Whether you’re in Colorado for work or for pleasure, Breckenridge condos offer plenty of reasons to stay. Start finding Breckenridge condos for rent here.

The vacation rental business is booming, with over 1.3 million properties available in the US.

What does this mean for you, the soon-to-be-traveler? You may find yourself quickly overwhelmed by options, especially in popular vacation destinations like Breckenridge, Colorado.

How can you find the best condo accommodation for your upcoming trip? Here are some important factors to consider as you browse Breckenridge condos for rent.

Location, Location, Location

The location of your vacation rental will make or break your trip.

If you’re hoping for a quiet mountain getaway, you won’t be happy in a condo located over a busy bar on Main Street. On the other hand, if you want easy access to the best restaurants and nightlife, you might prefer a central location over a cabin in the woods.

Take a look at your itinerary and prioritize what you want from your accommodation. Do you need a quiet space to work or relax? Would you like a ski-in ski-out property to maximize your time on the slopes? Or would you prefer to be right in the center of the action downtown?

Travel During Off-Season

If possible, schedule your visit outside of the busiest travel weeks. During the ski season in Breckenridge, these include the Christmas holidays, President’s Day weekend, and spring break weeks.

You’ll find more choices for accommodation and lower prices if you have some flexibility with your travel dates. You’ll miss the holiday crowds if you book your stay during January, for example.

Or, since the mountain usually stays open until Memorial Day, why not try a ski vacation after the Easter rush? Bonus: It will be a lot warmer too!

Consider Perks & Amenities

Next, make a list of “must have” amenities and another list of “would be nice to have” items. Items on your “must have” list might include pet-friendly accommodation (if you’re traveling with your dog) or a parking space for your rental car.

After that, think about what you want out of your condo rental. Do you want a gourmet kitchen to prepare meals every day, or do you plan to dine out? What about items like a hot tub, fireplace, laundry facilities, or a mountain view?

Decide in advance which amenities you need and which ones are optional. This will help you narrow your search and find the perfect property faster.

Check Reviews & Ratings

As you browse potential rentals, look at reviews from past travelers. This will give you a better idea of what it’s actually like to stay at the property.

Did they rave about the easy check-in or the newly remodeled kitchen? Did they mention how easy it is to get to the highway, the grocery store, or the airport?

Pay attention to any negative comments as well and use this feedback to make an informed decision.
