The Highlands sits on the north side of Breckenridge, roughly 4 miles from downtown off Highway 9, bordering the Jack Nicklaus–designed Breckenridge Golf Course. In winter, the golf course transforms into the Gold Run Nordic Center, with about 27 km of groomed cross-country trails and 10 km of snowshoe trails right outside the neighborhood.
Homes here are large, wooded-lot properties with some of the widest mountain views in Breckenridge, looking out over the Ten Mile Range and the ski resort. Hiking and biking trails run throughout the subdivision, and the Swan River is just across Tiger Road. Its location on the north side of town also makes it a convenient jumping-off point toward I-70.
