There are many things to do in Breckenridge that all members of your family will enjoy. While Breck is renown for its world class skiing, the adventure doesn’t stop there. Breckenridge also has a host of nightlife, history, arts and many other activities for adults and children alike.

Here are a few of our favorite things to do in Breckenridge.


National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) – If you’re in the mood for an evening full of glamour, look no further than the National Repertory Orchestra!  The NRO hosts many wonderful performances at the Riverwalk Center (which is also home to many other fun events.)

Breckenridge Heritage Alliance – Even before Breckenridge was considered a ski town, the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance was established. The Breckenridge Heritage Alliance offers many different kinds of interesting guided tours rich with historical sites and riveting tales about Breckenridge’s past as a budding mining town. If you are looking for something the whole family can do together in Breckenridge, BBHA is the place to look.

Summit Historical Society – Summit County may seem like a ski area at first glance, but it’s rich with heritage and history. The Summit Historical Society offers tours of historic buildings and mine sites all over Summit County. Not only that, but they also have artifacts, photographs, and documents from Summit County’s gold rush days, skiing history, or even Native American years.

Backstage Theatre – Come see the locals exercise their theatrical talent at the Backstage Theatre, where you can find some of the finest acting any mountain town has to offer! You can choose from many different plays and musicals throughout the year.

Seasonal Recreation

Breckenridge Ski Resort – The Breckenridge Ski Resort not only offers a great place to play snow sports, but also serves as the home to Breck’s Fun Park during the summer, where you or your family can play mini golf, go down the Alpine Superslide, take scenic chairlift rides, or ride the Gold Runner Coaster. This is an Breckenridge adventure activity all ages will enjoy.

Stephen C. West Ice Arena – No matter the weather, you can always go ice skating! This ice arena is a year-round enclosed ice complex with indoor and outdoor skating rinks. Skate rentals, a pro shop, meeting rooms, and bleacher seating are available here. Visit their website for more information.

Breckenridge Gold Run Nordic Center – A haven for snow lovers of all ages and skill levels, this Nordic center offers everything: ski trails, snowshoe trails, an ice skating pond, sleigh rides, ski lessons, retail shops, and the Clubhouse restaurant. Frisco Adventure Park – The perfect destination for a day’s trip, the Frisco Adventure Park consists of many summer and winter recreational activities. In the summer, you can ride your bike, skateboard, play disc golf, play ball in one of their many fields, embark on wagon rides, or hang out at the day lodge. When winter rolls around, you can slide down the tubing hill, ride down the ski hill, go snowshoeing on their 45-km trails, or take a scenic sleigh ride. Stuff for Kids

Carter Park – When the kids bounce out of bed ready to play in the snow, you can bring them to Carter Park for a full day of sledding and giggling.

Mountain Top Children’s Museum – When the afternoon chill sets in and your kids are restless again, Mountain Top Children’s Museum may be the perfect solution! This fun and colorful museum offers many different exhibits that educate, inspire, and entertain kids.

Breckenridge & Summit County Events

Breckenridge Music Festival – The Breckenridge Music Festival provides many different musical experiences all over Breckenridge in any given month of the year. Check out their website to see which concerts are available during your visit here.

Pro Cycling Challenge – (August) The Pro Cycling Challenge takes place all over Colorado, even right in Breckenridge. If you happen to be in town the same day as the Pro Cycling Challenge, be sure to venture over to Main Street to cheer on the cyclists.

Breck Bike Week – (August) The town of Breckenridge sets aside a week each August to introduce locals and visitors to the wonderful world of cycling with bike demos, group rides, information about its backcountry trail network, and so many other things at its week-long festival.

Oktoberfest – (September) For a weekend each fall, Breckenridge closes down Main Street for Oktoberfest, a German-inspired festival chock full of German food, good beer, Bavarian dancers, and even children’s activities.

Wine in the Pines – (October) An annual red-carpet event, Wine in the Pines is a wine festival that benefits people with Cerebral Palsy. For about $100, you’ll gain access to over 500 international wines, outstanding cuisine, and auction-able items.

Dew Tour – (December) The Dew Tour is a smaller version of the X Games, and the Winter Dew Tour is located at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. If you happen to be in town in December, make your way to Peak 8 to watch pro skiers, snowmobilers, and snowboarders rip the slopes.

Ullr Fest – (January) For a whole week each year, the whole town of Breckenridge comes together to celebrate Ullr, the Nordic God of Winter. The UllrFest is full of parties, games, music, parades, and Viking hats.

Snow Sculptures – (January/February) Every year, Budweiser hosts the Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships, where professional snow sculpturers come from all over the world to compete against each other. You can check out all the impressive snow sculptures and vote on your favorite ones!

Kingdom Days – (June) Breckenridge is proud of its colorful past, so that’s why the town hosts an event called Kingdom Days each June where they can let locals and visitors indulge in Breckenridge’s long history of mining, exploration, and adventure. The event includes competitions, storytelling, old-time photos, and gold panning.
